Dear Community Leaders and Council Members,
I hope you are doing well and staying safe.
Thank you for your dedication and passion in participating in the Community Councils of Richmond Hill.
Please be advised that the NEXT Affordability Council will be held on Wednesday, January 25th, from 6:00 to 7:00 pm EST via Zoom.
The focus of this meeting will be on Affordable Housing & Homelessness in the York Region.
You will find the Agenda, and the topics along with the Zoom Link Registration below:
We are pleased to announce that the Manager of Housing Strategic Initiative & Manager of Policy and Environment Long-Range Planning from York Region Housing Department will be our guest speakers for the next affordability council, and they will explain the region's long-term housing plans through their presentation. The following are the subjects that will be discussed:
- York Region's 10-year housing and homelessness plan and their role in providing support to residents living with low and moderate incomes
- Applying to the subsidized housing waitlist and programs offered through the wait list (including the Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit)
- Recent and upcoming community housing development projects
We are also privileged to welcome a Blue Door representative to the affordability council. They will provide an update and information on the issue of homelessness in the York Region and briefly discuss the Coldest Night of the Year – Richmond Hill! Program and how the community may support them.
We look forward to seeing all and catching up with the community leaders, hearing your feedback on our government's initiatives pertaining to affordability and, most importantly, how our government can better support Canadians through this challenging time as everyone is grappling with the rising cost of living.
